Indemnity and Code of Conduct

I hereby apply for enrollment of my child in THE WASPS Rugby Club.

By ticking the box on the registration form, you accept that THE WASPS Rugby Club and Edenvale High School, its servants, agents, coaches and employees, are not under any liability whatsoever for any injury, loss or damage, of or to my child or any party involved, howsoever caused during the course of training, playing matches and all functions related thereto, at the grounds or while being transported to another venue.

I understand that I am welcomed and encouraged by the Club to keep myself informed regarding my child’s involvement in the Club’s activities, though personal attendance and observation at practices and matches, by reading the newsletters and any communication from the Club’s coaches and personnel.

By submitting the registration form, I subscribe to the Club’s Code of Conduct as set out below on behalf of myself and my child and I will make sure that my child is aware of this, as anyone else present with me at any Club activity home or away.

I undertake to pay the Club’s membership fees and the club has the right to exclude my child if the money due is not paid in full.

  • Play by the rules.
  • Never argue with an official.  If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the game.
  • Control your temper.  Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any sport.
  • Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team.  Your team’s performance will benefit and so will you.
  • Be a good sport.  Applaud all good plays whether they are your team or the opposition.
  • Treat all participants in your sport as you would like to be treated.  Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
  • Co-operate with your coach, team mates and opponents.  Without them there will be no game.
  • Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants, regardless of their gender, ability, culture, background or religion.
  • Understand that the GLRU holds the Club responsible for player and supporter behaviour and can suspend the Club if they believe that we have put the sport into disrepute.
